It's leapt to very near the top of my list of favourite novels; Buechner is a remarkable writer. I think we can handle many more novels set in the 7th century. :-)Samantha Wilcoxsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04473495253682074133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609840638413465307.post-60039677242786786992015-09-24T02:09:15.535-07:002015-09-24T02:09:15.535-07:00What a great interview Edoardo and Matthew! It'...What a great interview Edoardo and Matthew! It's wonderful that your initial 'horror' has transposed into mutual respect and support - it's what I feel being a writer is about. Alternative viewpoints and takes on historical figures/stories enrich the genre bringing authors and readers together.

As Edoardo and Carol, I have a publisher but not an agent. It's not so much the route we take to publication, but that our books make it, so we can share our passions with readers. You guys are both doing that! I have not yet read Edwin or Serpent Sword, but both are on my reading list.

Keep up the good work everyone! 'Skol!' to Dark Ages historical fiction.E S Moxonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00910986089563223935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609840638413465307.post-24345358219953939052015-09-24T01:12:40.309-07:002015-09-24T01:12:40.309-07:00Carol and Samantha: Thanks for all the comments. It is great to see there is a real interest in novels set during this period.

BTW, The Wake is really worth reading too.

Edoardo: Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. The horror was short-lived. Much better for all of us authors to help each other. After all, readers get through books a lot more quickly than we can write them, so there are enough readers to go around! I don't have an agent either. Mind you I am not prolific at all and could never be so driven. I have ordered Godwin. The language there appeals to me more than Wake. The feel of an old world and the poetry and the accessibility appeals to me. Edwin is certainly on my list now too.Carol McGrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11072696398820339640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4609840638413465307.post-12470839451230432612015-09-23T14:58:52.251-07:002015-09-23T14:58:52.251-07:00Thanks for doing the interview, Matthew. One of the things I love about historical fiction is seeing different authors' portrayals of the same characters. I read Oswald and Serpent Sword within a month of each other and the different versions of Edwin made me smile.Samantha Wilcoxsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04473495253682074133noreply@blogger.com
